We meet at Burton Road Methodist Church on a Friday evening, during school term time, from 6.00pm until 7:30pm.
The group covers singing, dancing and drama. The starting age for the group is 5 years old, cost is 50pence per child.
Singing
- We aim to enjoy singing whilst exploring different styles of church and
secular music with our voices, from chant to rock. Our work will be unaccompanied
and accompanied by instruments and backing tracks.
Being a team activity, the singers will need to maintain a melody in tune with each other.
Our sessions include singing established music and creating our own songs and rhythm pictures based on the children's experiences.
Dancing
- We aim to keep fit and have fun to music. We will explore worship through
dance and experiment with different types of music and dance, both Christian
and secular.
Our sessions include exercise to music, learning new dances, doing dance routines and relaxation exercises.
Drama
- We aim to enable the children, both individually and as a group, to
express themselves through speech and drama. This will be based on adaptations
of Bible stories and topics relevant to the children's life experiences. We
will also prepare the children for public reading.
Our sessions include team games, voice exercises, encouraging use of imagination, writing short sketches, filming short plays and dramas.
